  • 1/2-1 cup Chicken broth or water
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Equipment

  • Slow cooker or crockpot
  • Two forks

Method

  1. Trim excess fat from the chicken if needed.
  2. Place the chicken in a single layer in the crockpot.
  3. Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder evenly over the chicken.
  4. Pour the chicken broth or water around the chicken without fully submerging it.
  5. Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours for the best texture, or on HIGH for 3–4 hours for a faster option.
  6. Once the chicken is tender and pulls apart easily, shred it inside the slow cooker using two forks.
  7. Mix the shredded chicken with the cooking juices before serving or storing.

Notes

Low Cooking Time: 6–8 hours — best texture.
High Cooking Time: 3–4 hours — faster option.
Avoid adding too much liquid because the slow cooker creates moisture as the chicken cooks.
Store the shredded chicken with some of the cooking liquid to help keep it moist.
Refrigerate for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
