Ground Beef Taco Meat

Quick and flavorful ground beef taco meat made with onion, garlic, tomato sauce, and homemade taco seasoning. Ready in about 20 minutes for tacos, bowls, nachos, or salads.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • onion finely diced
  • garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp homemade taco seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • water optional, a splash if mixture is too thick

Method
 

  1. Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef, finely diced onion, and minced garlic. Break the beef into fine crumbles and cook for 8–10 minutes, until browned and the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce and homemade taco seasoning.
  4. Simmer for about 2 minutes, stirring to combine the flavors.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water and stir until it reaches your preferred consistency.

Notes

Cook ground beef to a safe internal temperature of 160°F. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3–4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of water or broth if needed.
