Homemade Taco Meat Seasoning

A simple homemade taco meat seasoning made with chili powder, cumin, paprika, and pantry spices. This versatile dry blend makes about two tablespoons, enough to season approximately one pound of ground beef.

Ingredients
  

  • Chili powder
  • Ground cumin
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder optional
  • Onion powder optional
  • Dried oregano optional
  • Red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk or fork
  • Airtight spice jar or container

Method
 

  1. Measure the spices into a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk or stir the spices together for at least 30 seconds until the color and texture are uniform.
  3. Taste a small pinch and adjust the heat or salt level to your preference.
  4. Use about 2 tablespoons of the finished seasoning for 1 pound of ground beef.
  5. Store any unused seasoning in a clean airtight container in a cool, dry, dark place.

Yield: about 2 tablespoons of seasoning.
Use about 2 tablespoons of seasoning per 1 pound of ground beef.
